Very insightful response. In the blog, I was trying to work our why Black America seemed so preoccupied with Houston’s sexuality while brushing off, or even laughing at, an addiction that spiraled out of control. There is nothing funny about addiction. It can be devastating to families. But, Black America tends not to acknowledge or talk about mental illnesses at all. So, whereas we have gotten comfortable with just about everything else, mental illnesses such as addiction are still shunned!
